New Vegas Is no different from Fallout 4 when it comes to that, besides some forced railroad interaction which Is a dissapointment.
In New Vegas you HAD to Interact with benny no matter what to get anywhere, you HAD to go to New Vegas, and you HAD to do specific tasks for each faction, and there was no getting out of it, even If you went the Wild Card route. Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 did have interesting Dialogue to choose from and more options in Dialogue choices rather than picking 4 choices in Fallout 4. Fallout 4 did have some cool factions you could play as but they didn't have much 'umpf' like FNV with the Legion and the NCR. In Fallout 4 they give you just one path and that is to find your lost son, thus only giving you one character to play as, a Mother/Father looking for his or her son.
